About this QR code
A QR code that saves a contact
A vCard QR code holds a digital business card. A phone that scans it offers to save the person as a new contact, with the name, phone numbers, email, website and address already filled in. Nobody has to type anything or ask you to spell your surname.
The card is stored in the code itself, so it works without a website, and what you type on this page stays in your browser. Because the card is static, a change of number or job means making and replacing the code.
If you only need people to call you, a phone QR code is smaller and simpler.
Where it is used
Where contact codes help
Business cards. Print one on the back so a contact can be saved in a second, without a thumb-typing session.
Trade shows and conference badges. A code on a badge or a booth banner lets people collect your details quickly.
Property and sales signs. An agent or a rep can put a code beside their name on a sign or a brochure.
Presentations. End a talk with a code so the audience can save you before they leave.
Team and club notices. Put the organiser’s details on a noticeboard.
Email signatures and websites. If you would rather share just an address, an email QR code opens a message instead.
How to use it
Three simple steps
1. Enter your name
Add a first and last name, or just a business name if the card is for a company.
2. Add the details you want shared
Phone numbers, email, website, job title and address are all optional. Leave out anything you would not want to hand out.
3. Download and test
Save the code and scan it with a phone to check that every field lands in the right place in the new contact.
The details
What is stored in the card
The code uses vCard 3.0, the version that the widest range of phones and contact apps read. It can carry a name, organisation, job title, a mobile and a work number, an email address, a website and a work address. Commas, semicolons and line breaks inside fields are escaped, and names with accents or other alphabets are encoded correctly, so a name like José Müller-Núñez arrives as written.
The more you fill in, the denser the code becomes. A fully completed card is a few hundred bytes, and in our software tests it scanned reliably at 1024 pixels wide. For a small print size, include only what matters: a name, one number and one email make a much calmer pattern.
Add the country code to phone numbers so the contact works abroad. This card has no photo or logo field, which keeps the code small. A logo in the middle of the code itself is a different feature and does not add a picture to the contact.
The font caption
Put your name under the code
A caption such as “Save my contact” or your name in a distinctive typeface makes the code look finished on a card or a badge. Find one in the ProFont library and it is included in the PNG. The SVG download holds the code only.

Questions
contact card QR code FAQ
Which phones can read a vCard QR code?
Most recent iPhones and Android phones offer to add the contact straight from the camera or scanner. Behaviour varies a little between apps, so test one.
How many details can I include?
All the fields shown are supported. A fully filled card still scans, but a card with fewer fields makes a simpler code that is easier at small sizes.
Can I update the card later?
Not on a static code. Make a new one when your details change and replace the old copy.
Is my information uploaded?
No. The card is built in your browser and never leaves it.
Does it include a photo?
No. Photos would make the code far denser, so this card is text only.
