Best Font for Business Cards
A business card is often the smallest, most permanent piece of branding you’ll hand someone, and the font you choose says as much about your business as the design around it. Here’s what actually works at that size.
Best serif fonts for business cards
Serif fonts bring a sense of establishment and trust, a strong choice for law firms, financial services, consultants, or any brand that wants to feel credible and traditional.
Best sans-serif fonts for business cards
Sans-serif fonts feel current and approachable, a natural fit for creative studios, startups, tech companies, or any brand that wants to come across as modern and easy to work with.
What size font should you use on a business card?
Business cards are unforgiving on size since there’s so little room to work with, and the card needs to stay legible even when read quickly or at arm’s length.
- Name – 10-12pt, the largest and boldest text on the card
- Title or tagline – 7-8pt, directly below the name
- Contact details – 6-7pt, never smaller, since phone numbers and emails need to stay easy to read
- Logo or wordmark – sized to balance visually with the text, not dominate it
Stick to one font for the name and headline, and at most one additional font for contact details, business cards rarely have room for more than that without feeling cluttered.
