Free Tool

QR Code Generator

Make a QR code for a link, WiFi network, contact card, email, text message, location, calendar event and more, then download it as a PNG or SVG. Free, no signup, and no watermark.

Private by design: the code is built in your browser. What you type is never uploaded or stored.

What you can make

Ten kinds of QR code, one tool

The smart box at the top looks at what you type and picks the right kind for you: a web address, an email address, a phone number or plain text. If it guesses wrong, one click switches it. You can also choose any type yourself, and each has its own page with tips and answers for that kind of code.

Web address QR code

Sends people to a page when they scan. Short addresses make the easiest codes to read.

Text QR code

Holds a short note, a code or a serial number, with accents, other alphabets and emoji intact.

Email QR code

Opens a draft to your address with the subject and message already written.

Phone number QR code

Offers to call a number, so nobody has to type it from a sign.

SMS QR code

Opens a text message with the number and wording filled in. Two formats to choose from.

WiFi QR code

Lets guests join your network by scanning. The password never leaves your browser.

Contact card QR code

Saves a name, phone numbers, email, website and address into someone’s contacts.

Location QR code

Opens a map from an address, a business name or exact coordinates.

Calendar event QR code

Adds an event to a phone calendar, with your choice of time zone handling.

WhatsApp QR code

Opens a WhatsApp chat with your number and a pre-written message.

How to use it

Three simple steps

1. Add your content

Type or paste into the smart box, or pick a type and fill in its fields. The preview updates as you go.

2. Style it

Change the colors, dot shape, size and blank border, or add your logo in the middle. The tool warns you if a choice could make the code hard to scan.

3. Download and test

Save a PNG or SVG, or copy the PNG. Before you print anything, scan it with a phone to make sure it opens what you expect.

The font caption

Add a caption in any of 2,000+ fonts

A bare QR code doesn’t tell people why they should scan it. Type a short caption such as “Scan for the menu” and it appears under the code, in the font you choose. Search the font box and pick from the same library you can browse on ProFont.

The caption is part of the PNG download and the copied image. The SVG download holds the QR code only, because a font can’t be reliably carried inside an SVG file. If you need a caption with an SVG, place the text in your design software.

Scanning tips

How to make a code that actually scans

Keep the contrast high. Dark code on a light background is the most reliable. Light code on a dark background (inverted) fails in many scanner apps, and the tool will warn you about it. If the colors are too close together, downloads are switched off.

Leave the blank border. The empty margin around the code, called the quiet zone, helps a scanner find the edges. Four modules wide is the recommended minimum.

Shorter content scans easier. Every extra character adds more squares. A long web address makes a dense code that needs a larger print size. If you are also choosing type for the same design, the Font Comparison Tool lets you compare fonts side by side.

Match the error correction to the job. Higher levels let a code survive scuffs, folds and a logo in the middle, at the cost of a denser pattern. Medium suits most screens and print. Adding a logo switches the tool to High automatically.

Good to know

Static codes, no tracking

These are static QR codes. Your content is written into the pattern itself, so the code does not depend on our site and cannot expire or be switched off. The trade-off is that a static code can’t be edited after you print it, and we can’t show you scan counts, because nothing passes through our servers.

That also protects sensitive details. A WiFi password or a home address stays in your browser tab. The only outside request the tool makes is for the caption font you choose, which loads from Google Fonts or jsDelivr. Only the font name is requested, never your content.

Questions

QR code generator FAQ

Is this QR code generator really free?

Yes. There is no signup, no watermark, no download limit and nothing to pay for. You can use the codes you create in print, on screens and in business materials.

Will my QR code stop working?

No. A static code holds its content directly, so it keeps working for as long as the content does. A web address code stops working only if the page it points to goes away.

Is anything I type sent to a server?

No. The code is generated by your browser. The one exception is the optional caption font, which is fetched by name from Google Fonts or jsDelivr.

Which file should I download, PNG or SVG?

Use PNG for screens, documents and anything with a font caption. Use SVG when a printer or designer needs a file that scales to any size without going blurry. The SVG contains the code only.

Why won’t my code scan?

The usual causes are low contrast, a code printed too small, a missing blank border, or too much content. Check the warnings under the preview, enlarge the code, or shorten what it holds, then test again with a phone.

Can I put my logo in the middle?

Yes. Choose an image file (up to 2 MB) and it is placed in the center. The error correction rises to High so the code still reads, and the image never leaves your device.
