Redaction 50 is a serif font built around the visual language of redacted documents, where portions of text are obscured by solid black bars. At 50 percent redaction, roughly half the letterforms are interrupted or replaced by these rectangular blocks, giving the typeface a deliberately fragmented, censored appearance. The result is a font that reads as partially legible, sitting somewhere between functional text and graphic abstraction. It carries a strong conceptual identity — immediately evoking themes of government secrecy, classified information, surveillance, and withheld truth. Its personality is blunt and confrontational rather than decorative.
