Teko is a condensed sans-serif typeface with a tall, narrow structure and clean geometric construction. It has a strong vertical emphasis that makes it feel bold and assertive without relying on heavy stroke weights. The letterforms are straightforward and modern, with minimal ornamentation and even spacing that gives it a disciplined, utilitarian look. It supports Devanagari and Latin scripts, which adds to its versatility. The overall personality is confident and direct, leaning toward the functional side rather than the expressive.
Teko works well in contexts where space is limited but visual impact matters. It is a practical choice for sports and gaming interfaces, where condensed display type needs to carry energy without taking up too much horizontal room. It also fits naturally in news and editorial layouts as a headline font, particularly for sections that need a structured, no-nonsense tone. In product branding and packaging, especially for tech, fitness, or industrial categories, Teko communicates efficiency and a modern edge without feeling overly stylized.
Best suited for: Consider Teko for headlines, sports interfaces, gaming UI, product packaging, and editorial layouts where condensed letterforms need to maximize impact within constrained horizontal space.
Design considerations: Teko's five weight options from 300 to 700 support flexible typographic hierarchy while maintaining its characteristic narrow proportions across all variants. The typeface's geometric construction and even spacing remain consistent across weights, making it reliable for contexts requiring visual discipline and functional clarity.
Pairing guidance: Teko's vertical emphasis and utilitarian character pair effectively with Oswald as a complementary sans-serif headline option, Merriweather as a serif body text choice for editorial balance, and Rajdhani as a technical sans-serif alternative that shares geometric sensibility while offering different proportions and script support.
